Using display keys
Please note that the Older style Norstar telephone display is shown above but the new type (suffix N) telephone display is very similar.
Key Enquiry
Check what is programmed on your memory keys.
- Release all calls or open lines with dial tone.
- Press Feature *0.
- Press the key(s) that you want to check and read display.
- Press Feature when finished.
- Press Feature *7.
- Press display keys labelled UP or DOWN for level you want.
- Press the display key labelled OK when finished.
- Press Feature *7.
- Press 1 to 9 for the level you want (high number = high level).
- Press Feature *6 - Press 1, 2, 3, 4 on keypad to hear the different ring types.
- While the telephone is ringing, repeatedly press the appropriate end of the volume bar (located below the keypad) to adjust the volume.
Press OK to store the ring.
Answering callsAnswering calls using the handset When the telephone rings or the indicator flashes beside an intercom or line key: Lift the handset or press the key beside the flashing indicator before lifting the handset. Answering calls using hands-free When the telephone rings or the Indicator flashes beside an intercom or line key press Hands-free.
Making calls
Depending on the dialling mode programmed on your telephone, you may have to lift your handset before making a call. External calls using numbered line keys- If you do not have an external Prime line, press a line key.
- Dial your call.
- Lift handset.
- If the indicator beside an intercom key is lit, enter a line pool access code.
OR
Press an intercom key which is not lit, then enter a line pool access code. - When you hear external dial tone, dial your call.
- If you do not have an internal prime line, press Intercom.
- Dial your call.
Making calls using Hands-free
- Press Hands-free instead of lifting handset.

Holding calls- Press Hold. The indicator flashes beside the line on hold.
- Press the line key with the flashing indicator to return to the call.
Calls are put on hold automatically when you switch from one line to another.
Exclusive hold
Use Exclusive hold (Feature Hold) to keep a call on hold private.
Hands-free
This key operates the telephones built-in microphone and speaker. The System Coordinator can program Hands-free for your telephone. Switching between hands-free and handset- Press Hands-free and replace the handset to switch to hands-free.
- Pick up the handset to switch back.
- Press Hands-free to turn the microphone OFF.
- Press Hands-free again to turn the microphone ON.
Norstar M7324 Programming
Memory keys store telephone numbers or feature codes to give you one-touch dialling or feature activation. You can change the function of a memory key by programming it with a new number or feature. Memory keys (with indicators)(M7310 & M7310N, M7208 & M7208N, M7324 & M7324N) If you program a memory key with an extension number, the indicator comes on when the number is busy. Dual memory keys (without indicators)(M7310 & M7310N only) To use the bottom function press the dual-memory key. To use the top function, press the shift key, then press the dual-memory key.
Programming memory keys
- If you are on a call or on an open line with dial tone press hold or press Rls.
- Press Feature *1.
- Press a memory key.
- Dial the external number.
- Press OK to store the number.
- Label the new key.
- If you are on a call or on an open line with dial tone press hold or press Rls.
- Press Feature *2.
- Press a memory key.
- Dial the extension number.
- Label the new key.
- If you are on a call or on an open line with dial tone press hold or press Rls.
- Press Feature *3.
- Press a memory key.
- Press Feature and then dial the feature code.
- Label the new key.
- If you are on a call or on an open line with dial tone press hold or press Rls.
- Press Feature *1.
- Press the memory key you want to erase.
- If M7310, M7310N, M7324 or M7324N press OK to erase the key.
If M7208 or M7208N press Hold to erase the key.
